Respite & Short-Term Accommodation (STA)
We assists participants to access respite and short-term accommodation options while providing personalised support before, during, and after their stay.
What Is Respite & Short-Term Accommodation?
Respite and Short-Term Accommodation are NDIS supports designed to offer temporary care and assistance away from a participant’s usual living arrangement. These supports may be used for planned breaks, emergency situations, or transitional periods where additional support is required.
Northern Star does not own, operate, or manage accommodation facilities. Instead, we support participants to navigate available options, coordinate suitable arrangements, and receive the right level of support while staying in approved short-term accommodation.

How We Support Respite & Short-Term Accommodation
Our role is to help participants and families understand their options and feel confident accessing respite and short-term accommodation. We assist with exploring suitable providers, coordinating supports, and ensuring participants are prepared for their stay.
We also provide in-home or community-based support around respite periods, including assistance with routines, personal care, transport, and daily activities. This ensures continuity of care and a smooth transition before and after short-term accommodation arrangements.
Who Can Benefit from Respite & Short-Term Accommodation?
Respite and Short-Term Accommodation supports are designed for NDIS participants and families who need temporary assistance during planned breaks, transitions, or periods of increased support needs.
